Neo-Paganism

From Solitary Witches Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

A broad, eclectic movement, centered in the industralised West, which is characterised by a return to, or reconstruction of pre-Christian Western nature religions. It gained momentum in the 1960s with the flowering of the Age of Aquarius and the environmental movement. Neo-Paganism means different things to different followers: it is a religion, a philosophy and a way of life. As a movement, it is not unified, centralised, structured or highly organised, which is one of the key factors in its appeal. It has no charismatic gurus or proselytizers. Neo-Pagans, like modern witches, are independent and autonomous. Some belong to groups and organisations, while others prefer to remain solitary. All neo-Pagans value choosing their own paths and beliefs. Some neo-Pagans call themselves simply "Pagans".[1]
